Crunchyroll Developing ‘One Punch Man’ Video Game for PC and Mobile Platforms
Crunchyroll, the anime service, has revealed a new game called One Punch Man: World, which is a departure from previous attempts. This online multiplayer action game will be available on Android, iOS, and PC. Players can join the Hero Association with their friends to combat an increasing number of villains through missions and raids. The game allows you to unlock and play as various heroes from the first season of the TV show, such as Genos, Mumen Rider, and Puri-Puri Prisoner. Additionally, players can relive significant moments from the series.
Bandai Namco’s A Hero Nobody Knows was a fighting game, but this is more of a Devil May Cry-style action game with combos, dodges, and ultimate attacks. You’ll spend a lot of time getting situated, including side quests and mini-games elsewhere in Z-City.
One Punch Man: World is coming later this year. You can pre-register for the PC version now. Crunchyroll is working on the game together with the studio responsible for Perfect World, Persona 5: The Phantom X and Tower of Fantasy.
It’s too early to tell how well the game will perform in practice, including in-app purchases. After this, the creators face the same problem as Bandai Namco: how to balance a game where the protagonist Saitama can beat anyone with one hit? The answer seems to have to do with holding him back (a video on the official site shows Saitama using multiple strikes to take down an enemy), but you’ll probably have to wait for the final product to know how powerful he really is.
